Frequently Asked Questions

What is NYC Television Week 40 Under 40?
NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate the best up and coming leaders in media who are shaking up the industry with new ideas, targeted solutions and insights meant to drive business forward. We’re looking for a combination of TV personalities, executives, managers, webmasters, journalists, deal-makers and pioneers to round out this selection of 40, as we celebrate their accomplishments at our event in NYC.

When do nominations begin?
The nominations are now open and will close on Thursday, May 31, 2018.

What qualifications need to be met to be considered for this award?
We are looking for industry leaders who are no older than 39 years old as of October 30, 2018. The honorees must be industry leaders with vision, imagination, instinct and professional success. These are people who help create, market and sell what viewers are watching on screens big and small.

When will the honorees of NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 be announced?
The 40 Under 40 honorees will be announced in July 2018 – exact date to come.

Once selected, will the nominee receive the award in person?
Yes, the NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 Award reception will take place on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in NYC – exact venue to be announced soon.

Who are the decision makers deciding on the NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 Class?
The selection process will be managed by a group of editors from Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News.

How can I nominate someone for the NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 Award?
You can nominate your colleague or friend. There is no limit to the amount of people you nominate, and there is no cost associated per nomination.

Will I be informed if my nominee was not selected?
No, only the winners and their nominators will be notified prior to the announcement in July.

Can an executive be honored as a 40 Under 40 multiple years?
No, this is a one-time honor. This event has been re-branded from the Next Wave of Leaders to the NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 Awards. Because of this, previous winners of Next Wave of Leaders are also ineligible.

Can I just call you or send you an e-mail with the name of the person I'd like to nominate?
No, the online form must be filled out in order to submit a nominee.

Can I nominate someone anonymously?
No, we need to receive the full information for nominators as well. However, we do not share this information with any third party.

Can I nominate a family member or myself?
You can nominate yourself, a family member, an employer, a colleague or an acquaintance.

Will more than one nominee from the same company be accepted?
We accept multiple nominees from the same company, but only one will be chosen.

How does the process work?
After we receive the nominations, we submit the list to our Broadcasting & Cable / Multichannel News editors. The editors then meet to determine which candidates will be chosen. We will honor 40 individuals across content, distribution, advertising, technology and a few additional categories related to media and entertainment.

What is required of those who are selected?
Candidates who are selected must make themselves available for an interview with one of our editors. They must also provide a bio and high resolution headshot.

Can I contact you to see how my nominee is doing in the judging process?
No, if we need additional information, we will contact you.

I was not picked for a NYC Television Week 40 Under 40 Honoree. Can you tell me why?
We receive hundreds of nominations. We select the most qualified candidates across multiple categories related to media and entertainment. Please feel free to reapply next year.
