Bio
Manuel Martinez was named President of the Telemundo Station Group, a division of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, in November 2013. A long-time Telemundo executive, Martinez has more than 30 years of experience in the broadcast industry with extensive knowledge of station management, sales and programming. In his current role, he oversees Telemundo’s 30 owned local stations, and the new national Spanish-language multicast network, TeleXitos.

At the Telemundo Station Group, Martinez is leading the efforts to reinvigorate the stations by enhancing the stations’ local news and weather reporting and launching new newscasts and consumer investigative units to strengthen the stations’ commitment and service to their local communities. He also works closely with station general managers and Telemundo Network executives to oversee overall news programming strategies at all Telemundo stations. During Martinez’s tenure, Broadcasting & Cable named the Telemundo Station Group its “Station Group of the Year” in 2017 for the stations’ collective efforts to better serve U.S. Hispanic audiences. This was the first time the publisher recognized a Spanish-language TV group in the U.S. with this honor.

Prior to his current position, Martinez was President and General Manager of NBC 6 / WTVJ and Telemundo 51 / WSCV in South Florida, and Telemundo 47 / WNJU in the New York market. Before this Martinez was Executive Vice President of Programming and Production for the Telemundo Network.

Martinez earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from Montclair State College in New Jersey.
