Humberto Duran is the Director of Features Programming for CGTN's North America office. Based in Washington, D.C., Duran is responsible for overseeing Big Story, Full Frame, and Americas Now—leading long-form magazine shows that highlight social, economic, and environmental trends from around the world.
Under Duran's leadership, CGTN has produced over 80 films and received multiple awards. In 2020, the Features unit produced a 15-episode series called 24 Hours, which documented the effects of COVID-19 in the world's most vulnerable regions. The series was translated into six languages and distributed in multiple markets.
This year, the CGTN Features unit received 24 Telly Awards and five medals from the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, including one Gold for the documentary Lawless: Gangs of Haiti, and a Gold statuette from the Signal Podcast Awards for The Full Frame podcast episode Climate Adaptation.
Duran is a recipient of an Emmy Award for Outstanding Newscast from his time at NBCUniversal and worked at CNN for more than 15 years as an Executive Producer.
