Bio

Product Leader with a strong background in streaming TV entertainment, two-sided marketplaces, and mobile apps used daily by millions of people worldwide.

Joining Roku as the VP of Product in September 2021, Preston now oversees a dynamic product team, focusing on improving and simplifying the experience for the 72 million households using Roku worldwide. His emphasis on product discovery, experimentation, and machine learning has led to more efficient collaborations with third-party content providers and helped Roku introduce notable features such as What to Watch, Live TV Zone and Sports Zone. These efforts mark an important shift in Roku's approach, focusing on being more helpful for streamers in a way that’s highly personalized around the content each most enjoys.

Before Roku, Preston held the position of VP of Product at Comcast. Here, he was instrumental in expanding the range of streaming applications on Comcast's X1 platform. He also contributed to the introduction of Comcast's first streaming device, Flex, and its retail-sold TV, XClass TV, and its leading mobile streaming app. His teams shaped next-generation TV experiences, including how to reach sports fans, and integrate Internet content from the likes of Netflix, Hulu and YouTube, alongside traditional networks and streaming apps. He led the acquisition of sports technology company, OneTwoSee, and Comcast Cable’s approach to the Rio Olympics, which grew viewership by 27% vs. rest of US.

Prior to Comcast, Preston led the User Experience Design at eBay, during which he participated in several key initiatives, including the launch of eBay's mobile app in 2008 which grew into a $10B business.

Preston earned an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BS in Computer Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
