Mark Lieberman is a successful media, advertising and technology executive currently involved in several activities.  Recently, he became Senior Operating Advisor at Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity firm, where he advises Blackstone on a range of opportunities. He is also the Managing Director at Emergetic Advisors LLC, a boutique investment bank which raises capital and advises middle market media and tech companies, and a Managing Member at Abel Media & Tech LLC, where he advises a number of firms and start-ups positioning themselves to disrupt and transform the world of media and AdTech. 

Mark is also on the Board of Directors for Viamedia, one of the largest independent local advertising companies, having previously served as President and CEO for more than 7 years. While at Viamedia, he was inducted into the 2016 class of Cable TV Pioneers and was named one of the CableFax 100 most powerful people in cable.  He was also the Chairman of Viamedia’s programmatic-TV subsidiary, Placemedia, which was acquired by Altice in 2017.  He also was the co-inventor of the patented Placemedia system.

Prior to Viamedia, Mark was the Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of TRA, the first big TV data, media analytics, software and research firm which was acquired by TiVo. He also was the co-inventor of the patented TRA System. Prior to that, Mark was Chairman/CEO of IVT, an early online video publishing company.  He was previously President of About.com Ventures, a leading online portal company, and Executive Vice President of Reed Elsevier Business Information, where he oversaw Variety, Broadcasting & Cable, Publishers Weekly, Multichannel News and RR Bowker.
Mark served in the George H.W. Bush Administration as Associate Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary for Technology (acting) at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He also practiced intellectual property law and clerked for Judge Oscar Davis at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mark’s longstanding commitment to charity includes currently serving as the Chairman of the Tufts University Computer Science Department External Advisory Board, and on the board of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership
In 2014, Mark received the YJP Entrepreneur & Leadership Award given by the Young Jewish Professionals and was a member of the US National Masters Basketball Team at the 2001 Macabiah Games in Israel.

Mark splits his time between Westchester County and Montauk, New York.
